They say it’s her birthday….

“Her” being my Dearest Love, Eli!

So far, the day has been less than perfect. I forgot part of my lunch this morning. One of her presents from me was delivered to the wrong address. A goodly number of her co-workers are out of the office for indefinite periods of time. Another of her presents, this one from her parents, is MIA. The homemade pasta took a lot longer to make than I imagined, which means we won’t be eating until about 8. Plus, her original plans for ice cream out with friends fizzled.

Fortunately, I had some chips in the car I could substitute for my beloved crackers. The misdelivered package went to my old work, where I can pick it up tomorrow on my lunch break (a day late is ever so much better than lost). A bad day at work can be made up for by the present I have yet to give her, and of course the Birthday What-Not. The present from her parents may not be here, but the one from my parents is, and it should make her smile. The water is nearly boiling, so dinner will be soon. And ice cream, well that’s what the weekend is for. We can turn her birthday into a birth-five-day-weekend.

And now, she is off the phone (call from the ‘rents), and I have the rest of dinner to prep.

Happy birthday, Monkey!

Thank you, Firefly. I had a most enjoyable evening, indeed I did, what with the pastaing, and the gifting, and the What-Noting. You make birthdays neato-keen!

I’m glad to hear our gift arrived (happily, in just one day!). Thanks for mentioning it so I didn’t have to worry. And there’s still something else to be delivered in person next week. Happy Birthday, Eli!
