Yes, indeedy-doody, Leora is on vacation. I’ve been working in my current job for a little over a year now, and have only taken 3 days of vacation. This seemed so wrong, considering how much vacation I earn a year (a little over two weeks). So, in mid-March, I signed myself up to participate in the Book Arts Symposium at the Minnesota Center for the Book Arts. The symposium runs Tuesday through Sunday, with classes from 10-5.
I’m so excited! I get to spend six days learning new artsy stuff and creating. Best of all, I don’t have to go to work for a whole week. In fact, I can honestly say that I don’t have to work until next month.
Please don’t hate me. There are so many reasons why I really need this right now. I’ve been so stressed out over the past month that my body still hasn’t relaxed after two and a half days since I last was at work. I won’t get into all the reasons why work has been a living heck lately, because they are beyond anyone’s control. I just do my best to try to keep up, and hope my stomach won’t dissolve itself, my back won’t snap in two, and my heart won’t explode.
And now I sound like a whiner. Which, at times, I am. But which I promised I wouldn’t be today. So forget all that. I’m just happy. Happy that I’m actually blogging today. Happy that I got to have lunch with my honey at her work (Mmmmm…Panera….). Happy that I have the afternoon to unwind. Happy that I get to have a whole week to pursue art.
It’s days like this that make life feel like something worth living. I just have to try to remember that feeling during the other times.
Grah! Hate for the work-free type person! Insert gnashing of teeth here! Gnashing with a capital N!
Wait, hang on….

On second thought, vacation sounds like it’d be good for you. I know what it’s like to have the job threaten to eat you from the stomach lining out. So enjoy the downtime, enjoy the art, and enjoy your readhead. Cheers!
I’m so happy for you!! I hope you transform into a new, happier, calmer person with this wonderful time off. Don’t forget that your new computer will be ready soon, loaded with MacOS X Panther delicious! I’m almost done transferring everything over to my new iMac. Call me if you feel like talking…
Mom
I hope you have a wondrous, mind-explodey (infinitely better than head-explodey) time at your symposium. I am still riddled with envy, though.
