Pru

So, you may or may not know that Eli and I have a habit of naming things. Our bikes (Bernadette and Aubie), our house (Tangleroot), our computers (Stanley and Cecilie), and yes, our trees.

These pictures are of Prudence, or Pru for short, the crabapple that lives in our front yard. It’s in blossom right now, all delicate pinks and whites. It’s unseasonably early for it to be blossoming, but it is beautiful nevertheless.

These were taken with my new camera (a big thank you to my tax refund!). It’s a Nikon D3000, for any gear-freaks out there. I’m still learning the whole DLSR thang, since I’ve had it for a whole four days so far. But having used an “old-fashioned” film SLR for many years, it’s amazing how much it all comes back to me. In fact, it rather makes me want to break out the old Pentax for a few rolls of film. Maybe this summer…

Oh, these are beautiful. You and that camera go together like peanut butter and alfalfa sprouts!

Pru is so lucky to have such an awesome photographer sharing her home! The photos are lovely, and so flattering of her new blooms! I wish I had held and investigated your DSLR a little more while I was there. I’m so happy that you have the opportunity to explore a new depth of photography. You sound a little like me, when in my 20s, I bought my first SLR, that Pentax you refer to. It was such a wonderful new world to explore, and gives you new eyes to see things all around you. Have fun! And if you do break out the old Pentax, I’d love to see the results!

Pru is beautiful–but with her 2 moms, how could she not be. By the way, check your email. You haven’t picked up your Earth Day card.
