We have a few lilacs in the backyard. One of them bloomed really early thanks to our unseasonably warm weather this spring. I thought the others just weren’t going to bloom this year at all. But on Saturday, I went out back to take some photos of some of the blooming lilacs for a possible present for my grandmother and saw that the other lilacs were starting to flower. They were just late!
So here are some photos of one lilac in full bloom and another just starting to flower, all taken on the same day. Ah, the mysteries of nature…
I look at these and I swear I can smell lilacs in the air. Lovely work, my love.
There was a huge lilac bush on the west side of the house where I grew up. When the windows were open, and the breeze blew, the house would smell so sweet. I miss that.
