At least for one week…

We’ll be leaving on Thursday for camp, so I probably won’t be updating next Monday. But here is a mystery image for you for today.

The last Mystery Monday, from far too long ago, was my feet in the Minnehaha spring, from our trip to the falls on summer solstice 2008.

For my tenth Mystery Monday, here’s a photo to bring back thoughts of summer (much needed as it gets colder and colder here in Minnesota).

My last Mystery photo, posted a week before the election was the closed eye of my brother’s chameleon, Dunin. So, yes, Mom was right (although she had an unfair advantage, in that the picture was taken when Dunin was asleep on her chest). But we also had good guesses from Ren and Doom (both of whom commented through Livejournal, which was dutifully passed along by my lovely wife).

This week promises to be another busy one, as I will be taking my microeconomics midterm on Friday afternoon. Yep, I get to spend my entire day off tomorrow studying. Yay, me.

With any luck I will not be in a terrible post-exam mood on Friday, so I can put up a Free Friday offering.

Yup, I’m late again. I’ve been going a little crazy lately on my Microeconomics homework. And I will probably continue to do so until my class is done sometime in December. So from now on, you’ll just have to forgive me if my Mystery Monday and Free Friday posts are late. I still always plan to post at least those two posts each week. But they do take more time to prep, so they might just be late.

Last week’s image just seemed perfectly timed for when I posted it, a rainy afternoon. The photo was of rain streaming down one of the lobby windows of our old apartment, focusing on the glass to through the trees in the courtyard out of focus.

Have a good couple of days. I’ve got my Free Friday photo all picked out, so that one should be on time.

Yes, I know. I’m a day late.

Yesterday, Monday, we spent the evening at Discoflamingo’s, eating, chatting, watching Youtube, and just generally hanging out. Buy the time we got home, it was dreadfully late for me (9:30!!!) and my mind just couldn’t wrap itself around getting a post up.

So now it’s time for a Mystery Tuesday photo!

Last week’s image was indeed from our trip to Mackinac Island. It was a mega-macro shot of the upholstered headboard in our room at the Island House hotel.

I have more photos almost ready to go from our trip. I expect to post them Wednesday or Thursday (or maybe even tonight, depending on what-all we have planned for after dinner).

We’re back from vacation, and can I just say it’s so good to be home. We had a wonderful, absolutely amazing in countless ways trip (you can read all about it in installments at my wife’s site, or wait a little while for my account of the trip in photos), but it was long. I missed my cat. And I missed my house (and my own bed). And I really missed cooking (and thus knowing exactly what was in my food and not having to face a plate that held at least twice as much food as I should be eating in one sitting).

I’ve spent much time over the past two days sorting out the nearly 600 photos I took. I’ll get them narrowed down to a half-dozen or so then post them over the next couple of weeks. I’ll try to get the first batch, a sampler, up tomorrow. But for now, here is this week’s Mystery Monday photo.

No guesses from my co-vacationees, please. It wouldn’t be fair.

Last week’s mystery photo was one of my old brake pads, from my old mini-van. My dad “taught” me how to change them (by doing it himself with me watching), and then, understanding dad that he is, didn’t even look at me funny when I asked if I could keep the old ones. They made for some fabulous abstracts and texture shots.

It’s time for another Mystery Monday! Although, as I write this it is actually last Monday. Why write into the future, you may ask? Because I’m on Mackinac Island right now, on vacation, celebrating Jacob’s birthday (Happy Birthday!), blissfully separated from the internet and this blog. Um, the future “right now”, that is… I think.

Anywho, last week’s image was part of my Negativity series, so I guess it was a little unfair to have people guess what it was. But I don’t really care, because it’s my blog and I get to decide what’s fair (teehee!). The guesses were good, it is indeed a tree/bush like thing. It’s the bottom of our wedding broom, with our old vertical blinds in the background. I chose a really narrow depth of field, to throw most of the broom out of focus, except for just one little twig. It’s one of my favorites from that series.

It’s that time of week again: time for a new Mystery photo!

Last week’s image got some good guesses (not all in comments), but no one got it right. The image was a long exposure of a handful of steel marbles. The long exposure caused light trails of the reflections in the marbles. I jiggled the camera just enough to get some funky patterns.
